01 — Regulation in Portugal
What is the SRIJ?
The SRIJ is the Portuguese gambling regulator, part of Turismo de Portugal, I.P. It licenses and supervises online operators in Portugal, publishes the list of licensed entities and handles complaints against operators.
How do I confirm a brand is legal in Portugal?
Check the public list of licensed entities on the SRIJ portal. If the domain and the operator appear there, the brand is authorised. Every brand reviewed on this site is in the register and we state the licence number in each review.
What is the minimum age?
18. Access by minors is prohibited. Licensed operators verify identity and age before allowing any movement on an account.
How does self-exclusion work?
You can request self-exclusion through the operator itself or through the SRIJ Self-Exclusion Register. In the latter case the exclusion applies to every licensed entity in Portugal, and the minimum period is set by the regulation in force.
02 — Accounts and payments
Why am I asked for documents?
Identity verification (KYC) is a legal requirement, designed to prevent money laundering and access by minors. Operators typically ask for an ID document, proof of address and sometimes proof of the payment method.
How long does a withdrawal take?
In the two brands we tested, between 24 and 72 hours once verification is complete. The first withdrawal is always the slowest, because it coincides with document validation.
Are winnings taxed?
In Portugal, taxation on regulated online betting falls on the licensed operator, not on the consumer. Even so, particular situations should be confirmed with the tax authority or an accountant.
Can I use MB WAY?
Yes. MB WAY and Multibanco are the most common methods among licensed operators in Portugal and both credit almost instantly.

Do you earn money from the links?
Yes, some links to operators are commercial and may generate a commission. That does not change the score or the order of the comparison, and it is described on our Disclosure page.
Do you accept payment to improve a score?
No. The score comes from our fixed criteria grid. No operator sees the text before publication or has any veto right.
How often do you update reviews?
At least twice a year, and whenever a relevant change occurs (a change of licence, operator or payment conditions). The last revision date is shown at the top of every review.
How do I report an error?
Use the contact form with the subject "Editorial correction". We check it and, if the error is confirmed, we correct it and flag the change.
