Responsible Gambling
Betting is a paid form of entertainment. It is never a source of income. This page explains how to protect yourself and where to ask for help in Portugal.
Rules that work
Set a monthly deposit limit before you start and configure it in your account with the licensed operator.
Only stake money you can afford to lose without affecting essential expenses.
Never try to recover losses by increasing your stakes.
Do not bet under the influence of alcohol, medication or intense emotional stress.
Take regular breaks and use the session-time alerts offered by licensed brands.
Warning signs
Betting more than you planned, with increasing frequency.
Hiding from family how much money or time you spend.
Borrowing money or using savings meant for other purposes.
Feeling irritable or anxious when you cannot bet.
Neglecting work, studies or personal relationships.
Protection tools
Deposit, loss and session-time limits: available at every licensed entity in Portugal.
Self-exclusion with the operator: blocks access to that brand for the period you choose.
The SRIJ Self-Exclusion Register: blocks access to every licensed entity in Portugal at once.
Device blocking software, such as Gamban or GamBlock.
